How to Dry a Rose

I am such a nostalgic person and so I love to keep things that have special meaning to me. So if you are lucky enough to receive flowers on Valentine’s Day or if you are just looking for some new unique room décor then keep reading! I did this fun little project last year and to my dismay, the flower still intact. It is surprisingly easy to dry a rose. All you need is:

  1. A Rose/Roses
  2. Wool/Twine
  3. Scissors
  4. Vase
  5. Ribbon (optional)

Step 1 – wrap some wool/twine around the stem.

Step 2 – hang it upside down for a few weeks until it dries. Make sure to hang it in a cool dry room. Two weeks should do the trick.

(Step one and two can be used for a bouquet of flowers too just make sure that the string around the bouquet is tied tightly)

Bare in mind that it will look darker in colour compared to its original colour once it has dried.

It should look like this when it’s dry.

Step 3 – once the rose is dry place it in a vase and put anywhere you like. Tie some ribbon in a bow around the vase if you wish or around the stem of the flower.

If it’s the first rose(s) you receive or if it’s from someone you really care about then it will probably have sentimental value to you. I think that this is such a fun DIY project as you can keep the flower forever and use it to decorate your room.
